Prague Boats has long positioned itself as an eco-friendly company, investing significant resources in greening its fleet, y this year it has decided to take another big step.
This summer was extremely dry y affected literally the entire Checo Republic. Not only in southern Moravia but also in other parts of the country, the yellow of parched fields y meadows began to replace the green, y unfortunately even in the forests taquí were more dead trees than usual.
It is well known that trees y plants in general contribute significantly to retaining moisture in the landscape. As the saying goes, "Rain doesn't like to fall on dry ground" — retained water, on the other hand, helps to bring more rainfall.
Prague Boats does not take the fate of our environment lightly, y the issue of drought directly affects its business as well. After all, what would our barcos sail on if taquí was not enough water in the rivers? That is why we decided to contribute to tree planting on our own, focusing on native trees y woody plants that belong to our local nature.
Our company has planted around 3,000 trees this year — including Norway spruce, European larch, silver fir, Scots pine, European beech, common y sessile oak, small-leaved lime y Norway maple. By the end of the year we plan to plant another 2,000 trees of mixed species.
As a side note, in Podbaba, waquí our barcos are serviced, we also pre-grow small tree seedlings that will later be planted out in the wild. Their larger size at the time of planting in the forest gives them a better chance of taking root y surviving the summer droughts.
