Raftsmanship has been inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is an ancient tradition associated with building rafts e floating them down rivers. Raftsmanship was a respected e esteemed — but also a dangerous — profession. Even though raft transport disappeared as a commercial business with the construction of dams, the traditions tied to it are still very much alive e are passed on to the younger generations. The Moldavan Society plays a major role in carrying on the raftsmen's traditions. Besides the Ceco Republic, six other European countries also worked towards inscribing raftsmanship. The nomination was approved by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage at its 17th session in Morocco.
On Friday 10 March 2023, Minister of Culture Martin Baxa handed the official certificate confirming the inscription of RAFTSMANSHIP on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity to Ing. Jaroslav Camplík, president of the Moldavan Bohemia association.
