When 1,100 boats fit on the Vltava

On Monday, the Vltava turned into an exceptionally lively waterway for several hours. As part of the Tři jezy (Three Weirs) scout event, almost 1,100 small craft – canoes, rafts and paddleboards – travelled down the river. Regular Prague Boats and Paroplavba cruises continued to run among them.

For our captains, this meant all the more concentration. Boats headed to the zoo, to Vyšehrad and through the Mánes lock, while the paddlers passed safely through marked corridors and raft chutes. The river was busy, but never chaotic.

Our thanks therefore go to the organisers of Tři jezy, the Police of the Czech Republic, the Fire Rescue Service, the State Navigation Administration and the water rescuers. The coordination of so many small craft with regular boat traffic was precise – and thanks to it, everything went smoothly and without any collisions.

We are glad that, as Prague Boats and Paroplavba, we were able to take part in the second edition of the Poznej Vltavu festival. The festival is growing, gaining confidence and showing that the Vltava has room for big boats, small boats and powerful shared experiences.
