The steamship Vltava became one of nineteen reading venues for the literary happening Night of Literature. Actor Martin Myšička read from The Book of the Sea by Norwegian author Morten A. Strøksnes, whose Czech translation won the Magnesia Litera 2019 prize.
The unique setting of the historic steamship Vltava — and probably also the thematic link to the book — drew over 500 listeners. Even the author of the book and a representative of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in the Czech Republic attended the reading on board the steamship Vltava.
Night of Literature is organised by Czech Centres, this time in cooperation with the Prague 2 city district. The 13th edition of the event offered the public an unconventional opportunity to discover the work of contemporary European writers.
Each year the boats of Paroplavba and PRAGUE BOATS host around ten charitable events, providing a unique experience to several thousand people — for example the evening on board for the KlaPeto endowment fund, readings of Czech authors for children, or the Mental Power Prague Film Festival.
