Protecting the environment is one of our priorities, and we strive to operate our cruises as eco-friendly as possible. But it doesn't end there — we also make sure the area around the Vltava stays clean, which is why we regularly clean up the embankments and riverbanks.
This weekend we set out to clean Rašín Embankment, the marina at Kampa, Klárov and Dvořák Embankment under Čech Bridge. Equipped with mechanical extending litter pickers, gloves, bags and a net for fishing rubbish out of the water — which thankfully we didn't have to use all day — we started the morning at Rašín Embankment, waved at the steamboat Vltava as it set off, and got down to work.
At Rašín Embankment we picked up about 5 kilos of waste, and the most common item we collected was — wait for it — limes. We then moved on to Kampa, where the streets were clean but we found plenty of plastic and tissues in the grass. The worst spot of all was at Klárov by the Vltava bank, a popular place for taking photos and watching swans. There we collected an unbelievable two full bags of rubbish. We finished the cleanup at Dvořák Embankment, which was the cleanest of all the spots we visited.
