The towed boat has returned to Prague

On Wednesday afternoon, the Prague Steamboat Company arranged a unique spectacle for anyone who happened to be near the Railway bridge at Vyton at that time.

It was here that, after a 7-hour cruise from Kralupy nad Vltavou, an enormous towed boat anchored. This literally historic way of towing a boat with a tugboat was completed with a demanding manoeuvre, namely stopping the towed boat.

The towed boat was the 55-year-old cargo boat Petra, which previously served to transport malt to Western European breweries. Coming back, it carried tea, coffee and especially cocoa beans for the Modřany Orionka chocolate factory.

The executive director of the Prague Steamboat Company, in an interview for Czech Television, said among other things that the company has big plans for the boat. The upper deck will be made available to the farmers' market on the embankment, and in the lower part, which will be gradually reconstructed, three separate spaces will be created.

An exhibition on coffee roasting and a small café will be installed in them, then the first floating brewery in Prague, and in the last one a space for various cultural events.
