The Žofín Palace hosted the gala presentation of the Order of the Laurel, awarded by the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic to Czech and foreign personalities who have a positive impact on our society. The individual personalities, however, are nominated by the general public, and the winning laureates are selected by the Order of the Laurel jury.
The Order of the Laurel can be awarded for lifetime achievement, social impact, international or other reach. It can also be received by personalities who proudly represent and significantly support the Czech Republic, or by those who create lasting values, work for the benefit of others, and whose actions leave a permanent mark.
This year 14 personalities from among business people, managers, doctors, athletes and the worlds of science and art were recognised. Among them, for example, the Rector of Charles University Tomáš Zima, hockey player Jaromír Jágr, tile-stove maker and President of the Guild of Stove-Makers Pavel Rynda, who restored Renaissance stoves at Prague Castle and Lány Chateau, and from the artistic sphere actor Jaromír Hanzlík.
The closing after-party was traditionally held on the Agnes de Bohemia.
