On Saturday 2 June, the evening riverside on Rašín and the Upper Embankment turned into a spectacular firefighter fountain.

A record 1,000 firefighters, both professional and volunteer, gathered from across the Czech Republic to create together the largest firefighter water fountain in the world, paying tribute to 100 years of Czech statehood.

With the help of fire-engine pumps and lights, accompanied by the symphonic poem Vltava from Smetana's Má vlast, the Vltava's surface rose into the air and stretched far, creating a stunning performance much like the Křižík Fountain.

We captured this fleeting splendour on video for you.
