The Discover the Vltava Festival attracted thousands of visitors

On the last weekend of September, Prague hosted the inaugural Poznej Vltavu festival, offering a rich program on the riverbanks and on the water. Thousands of visitors flocked to the capital, along with hundreds of scouts who took part in the legendary paddling event Přes tři jezy. The sunny weather underscored the unique atmosphere of the entire event.

Vyšehrad Steamboat at the Heart of the Action

Our historic vessel Vyšehrad became one of the festival’s main attractions. Visitors could explore the Muzeum paroplavby, listen to guided talks about the history of river transport in Prague, and even try their own creativity by building models from the legendary Merkur construction set. Interest was enormous and the steamboat was bustling with visitors all day long.

A Celebration of the River and Its History

The festival also offered a glimpse into normally inaccessible technical sites, such as the Smíchov navigation lock and the Štvanice hydroelectric power plant. There were puppet shows, exhibitions, and interactive workshops for both children and adults. The entire event thus presented the Vltava not only as an important transport route and source of energy, but also as a place that brings together Prague residents, tourists, and all lovers of the river.
