Last week, on Thursday 7 June, we had two reasons to celebrate. Together with our sister company, the Prague Steamboat Company, we christened the magnificent new Grand Bohemia and celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Vyšehrad steamboat.
We are delighted to have presented Prague with a brand-new, modern boat — a step up from her predecessors Agnes de Bohemia and Bohemia Rhapsody. With the ceremonial christening she has officially entered service on our regular sightseeing and especially restaurant cruises. The boat is of course also available for corporate and private hire. We are equally delighted with the historic Vyšehrad steamboat, which is celebrating 80 years of service this year. She was first launched in 1938 and today is one of the last two historic paddle steamers on the Vltava. Testifying to the exemplary care she receives, in 2013 she and the Vltava steamboat were added to the list of protected cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. So that she may serve for at least another 80 years, she has recently undergone the first phase of restoration, which is intended not only to preserve her working condition but also to return her to her historic appearance.
