PRAGUE BOATS pontoons planted with trees are improving the microclimate in their surroundings.
Because of dense urban development and the lack of greenery in its streets, the centre of Prague shows noticeably higher temperatures than the city's outskirts. Asphalt and concrete cannot make use of the solar radiation they absorb or convert it into chemical or other energy, as taller plants do. That is why PRAGUE BOATS plants mature trees on its newly installed boarding piers — pontoons — which through photosynthesis contribute to a better microclimate in the surrounding area.
This year a new "green" pontoon was added on Dvořák Embankment (pier no. 0), where our glass-roofed boat Grand Bohemia is moored — the boat that most often sails the Prague Lunch Cruise, the Prague Grand River Cruise and, of course, private events for our clients.
We have long worked to make PRAGUE BOATS an environmentally responsible company: we invest in fleet modernisation and engine upgrades, and we have eliminated single-use plastics on our cruises.
