We opened the new season of cruises on the Vltava with today's grand cruise of our majestic steamboat Vyšehrad.
This steamboat truly deserves it, as it has been rippling the Vltava waters since 1938 and is also the largest steamboat. This year it will celebrate its 75th birthday. We were there with the camera, so judge for yourselves how good the steamboat looked.
The cruise route led from the dock at Rašín embankment and first headed downstream to Smíchov lock. Then the oldest steamboat symbolically passed under the oldest bridge — Charles Bridge — and sailed to the bridge of the famous builder and philanthropist Josef Hlávka. There it turned around and through the lock headed back to the mythical Vyšehrad. Below the Vyšehrad rock it turned for the last time and ended its cruise by docking at Rašín embankment.
