An Exceptional Sailing Season Has Begun! Our sister company, the Prague Steamboat Company, is celebrating an incredible 160 years.

The Prague Steamboat Company has launched its 160th sailing season—an event that deserves attention even beyond the capital city. The legendary steamboat Vltava, designated as a cultural monument, is once again setting sail on traditional excursion routes, inviting passengers to an unforgettable experience along the river.

This year marks exactly 160 years since the first steamboat connected Prague with towns along the Vltava and Elbe rivers. In 1865, the Prague Steamboat Company was established—a phenomenon that significantly transformed not only transportation but also life along the river. Steamboat travel brought economic development, new social opportunities, and cultural connections between regions. And its story continues to this day.

Entering the new season with pride and new offerings, the iconic steamboat Vltava, rightfully recognized as a cultural monument, is once again navigating its traditional routes. You can embark on a full-day trip to Slapy or a romantic cruise to Mělník, where the Vltava meets the Elbe. Along the way, you'll witness majestic confluences, castles, and the typical Central Bohemian landscape, which takes on a new dimension from the deck of the steamboat.

The popular full-day trip to Slapy is among the most beautiful experiences you can have from the deck of a historic steamboat. Here, the river flows through a romantic canyon, surrounded by rocks, forested slopes, and breathtaking views. The cruise is peaceful, comfortable, and simultaneously awe-inspiring with natural wonders—an ideal way to slow down and be carried away by a landscape that changes with every bend.

However, the big news this year is the return of another gem of Czech steamboat history—the steamboat Vyšehrad. Also holding the status of a cultural monument, it will be transformed into a floating museum by the end of summer, offering a unique insight into the history of river navigation. Visitors can expect authentic historical artifacts, period uniforms, and a beautifully restored mayoral lounge that served distinguished guests as early as the First Republic. Technical enthusiasts will appreciate a large interactive model of the steamboat Vyšehrad built from the legendary Merkur construction set. To engage children, a creative salon will be prepared where they can build their own boat—or anything else they imagine—from Merkur.

Floating Events with Views of Prague and Nature

The Prague Steamboat Company and its sister company, Prague Boats, offer a wide range of boat rentals for corporate and private events. Whether you're planning a stylish corporate celebration, a networking cocktail, a product presentation, or a wedding reception, hosting it aboard a historic steamboat or a modern electric catamaran will give every gathering a unique atmosphere.

In addition to classic steamboats, you can also take advantage of unique fully electric boats with silent operation, such as Anna Carolina or Bella Bohemia—ideal for events that aim to combine sustainability with elegance. A separate category includes all-glass boats like Grand Bohemia, which provide uninterrupted views of Prague's historic panorama in any weather. Modern facilities, flexible interior arrangements, and high-quality catering from our own gastro operations make these vessels the perfect choice for the demanding MICE segment. Equipment for presentations, interpretation, or live music is also available.

Tradition, technology, romance, and experience—all come together in a cruise that has been part of Czech culture for 160 years. And if you're still wondering when to set sail—now is the perfect time.
